Bright City Talent seeks an experienced Payroll Specialist for our Durban North client, a SOUTH AFRICAN wealth and accounting firm. The role covers end-to-end payroll for multiple small businesses, tax compliance, and payroll system configuration (Sage, Pastel, SimplePay).

The ideal candidate has 8-10 years of payroll experience, strong data analysis, and excellent client communication to support complex payroll inquiries and regulatory updates.

Qualifications

• 8-10 years of experience as a Payroll Specialist.
• Strong working knowledge of Sage Payroll, Pastel Payroll, and SimplePay.
• Experience within an accounting or auditing practice environment.
• Proven expertise in tax compliance and payroll management.
• Excellent data analysis and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to support clients effectively and communicate complex information clearly.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end payroll processing for multiple small business clients.
• Ensure full compliance with tax regulations, including PAYE, UIF, SDL, and EMP201/EMP501 submissions.
• Implement and configure payroll systems for new companies using SimplePay, Pastel, and Sage.
• Maintain data integrity and resolve payroll discrepancies efficiently.
• Prepare comprehensive monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll reports.
• Oversee leave management, employee benefit deductions, and statutory updates.
• Liaise with SARS, the Department of Labour, and other statutory bodies.
• Support clients with payroll-related queries and provide expert technical guidance.

• Manage end-to-end payroll processing for multiple small business clients.
