Job summary

Brilliant Computers in South Africa seeks a Network Hands & Feet Engineer to support enterprise network infrastructure at customer sites. You will perform rack and stack, cabling, basic configuration, and follow runbooks for remote troubleshooting.

Requirements include a Diploma or Bachelor’s in IT/Network Engineering and 2+ years of field experience, plus familiarity with TCP/IP, VLANs, and various network devices. Travel to customer sites is required.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
2+ years of hands-on experience supporting enterprise network infrastructure.
Basic knowledge of TCP/IP, VLANs, switches, routers, and firewalls.
Experience with console connections and network device installation.
Familiarity with structured cabling and patch panels.
Ability to follow technical instructions accurately and work within documented procedures.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

Hands-on onsite assistance to enable remote troubleshooting and remediation.
Console connectivity to network devices as instructed by Remote Support Team.
Providing physical access support (rack access, port locating, power cycling).
Visual verification and reporting of LED/link/alarm status and cabling condition.
Rack mounting/unmounting, patching and cable dressing to professional standards.
Coordinate with Remote Support Team for post-install verification.
Perform basic configuration actions as approved (IP/VLAN) and follow runbooks.
