Job summary

Placements24 clients, a prominent underground mining operation in Benoni, Gauteng, seeks a Mine Ventilation Engineer to design, implement, and monitor ventilation systems ensuring safe air quality for underground personnel.

You will conduct air quality assessments, manage heat and humidity, and work with planning, engineering, and safety teams to meet regulatory standards and improve overall mine safety and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering with Ventilation specialization.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in underground mine ventilation engineering.
• Proficiency with Ventsim / Ventsim Visual software.
• Strong knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics and heat transfer.
• Knowledge of dust and gas monitoring techniques and control measures.
• Familiarity with mining health and safety regulations.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities; strong communication.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and optimize ventilation networks to ensure airflow and air quality.
• Conduct site inspections and surveys to monitor ventilation system performance.
• Perform air quality assessments for dust, gases, and temperature.
• Develop strategies to control heat, humidity, and contaminants.
• Analyze ventilation data and prepare comprehensive reports.
• Collaborate with planning, engineering, and safety teams on ventilation needs.
• Ensure compliance with ventilation regulations and standards.
• Troubleshoot ventilation-related issues and implement solutions.
