Placements24 seeks a Mine Ventilation Engineer to design, implement and monitor ventilation systems near Vereeniging, SA. You will manage air quality, temperature and humidity to meet regulatory and operational needs in an underground mining setting.

The role emphasizes safe, efficient ventilation design, collaboration with safety and planning teams, and a strong focus on compliance and performance in a demanding mining environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mining or Mechanical Engineering with ventilation specialization.
• Minimum 5 years in mine ventilation engineering, preferably underground mining.
• Proficiency in mine ventilation modeling software (Ventsim, Minescape, VentGraph).
• Strong knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and air quality in mining.
• Familiarity with SA mining regulations and standards.
• Willingness to travel to Vereeniging and other sites.

Responsibilities

• Design and optimize underground mine ventilation networks (fans, ducting, airflow).
• Conduct air quality monitoring and ventilation surveys.
• Develop strategies for dust, gas, and heat control underground.
• Manage ventilation budgets and procure equipment.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regs for mining.
