Placements24 is seeking a qualified Mine Ventilation Engineer to join its client’s underground mining operations near Paarl. The role focuses on designing and implementing ventilation systems to ensure safe air quality, airflow, and regulatory compliance in challenging underground conditions.

The successful candidate will bring a strong background in mine ventilation, experience with Ventsim/Ventlog, and a track record of applying ventilation principles in practical mining settings.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mining or Mechanical Engineering with ventilation specialization.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in mine ventilation, preferably underground.
• Proficiency with mine ventilation software (Ventsim, Ventlog).
• Solid knowledge of thermodynamics and air quality management.
• Familiarity with SA mining health and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Design and optimize underground mine ventilation systems for airflow and air quality.
• Conduct airflow modeling and simulations using specialized software.
• Monitor environmental conditions including temperature, humidity, dust, and gas.
• Develop strategies for dust and fume control and suppression.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Manage ventilation equipment such as fans, ducting, and air monitors.
