Placements24 is seeking a Senior Mine Ventilation Engineer for a major mining operation in Mahikeng, North West. The role focuses on designing, analyzing, and maintaining underground ventilation networks to ensure safe air quality and thermal comfort for workers.

You should have 7+ years in mine ventilation, expertise with ventilation modeling software, and strong communication skills to lead projects on-site with occasional travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or Mechanical Engineering with ventilation specialization.
• 7+ years in mine ventilation engineering, preferably underground.
• Experience with mine ventilation modeling software and diagnostic tools.
• Strong knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, psychrometrics for ventilation.
• Knowledge of health, safety, environmental regulations for North West mine ventilation.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Strong communication, report writing, and interpersonal skills.
• Able to work on-site in Mahikeng with occasional travel.

Responsabilités

• Design and optimize underground mine ventilation systems, including fan selection and ducting.
• Conduct ventilation surveys and air quality monitoring.
• Develop strategies to control heat, dust, and gases.
• Perform ventilation network modeling using Ventsim or similar.
• Analyze ventilation data to identify issues and propose solutions.
• Ensure compliance with ventilation regulations and OHSA standards.
• Collaborate with mine planning, geology, and safety to integrate ventilation into design.
• Provide technical guidance to operations teams.
• Manage ventilation projects, including budget and contractor oversight.
