Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in mine ventilation engineering, preferably underground operations.
• Proven experience with mine ventilation software (e.g., Ventsim, Minescape).
• Strong knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and air quality monitoring.
• Familiarity with South African Mine Health and Safety Act regulations concerning ventilation.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency in data analysis and report writing.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Design, install, and maintain mine ventilation networks to ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
• Conduct airflow surveys, dust sampling, and gas monitoring to assess environmental conditions.
• Develop and implement strategies for dust and fume control in underground environments.
• Optimize ventilation systems for energy efficiency and operational cost reduction.
• Prepare ventilation plans, reports, and technical specifications.
• Collaborate with mine planning and operations teams to integrate ventilation requirements into mine designs.
• Investigate and resolve ventilation-related issues and challenges.
• Ensure the proper functioning and maintenance of ventilation equipment, including fans and ducting.
• Provide training and guidance to site personnel on ventilation best practices and safety procedures.
• Stay updated on advancements in mine ventilation technology and relevant legislation.
