Placements24 is seeking a Mine Ventilation Engineer for an underground mine in the Bloemfontein region. You will design and monitor ventilation systems to ensure safe air quality, temperature control, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities include airflow surveys, dust and gas monitoring programs, cooling calculations, and training mine staff on best practices. A degree in Mining Engineering with ventilation specialization and 4+ years’ underground experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering with a ventilation focus.
• Minimum 4 years in mine ventilation engineering, underground preferred.
• Proficiency using ventilation modeling software (VENTSIM, Numscale).
• Strong thermodynamics, psychrometrics, and air quality knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Design, optimize, and maintain mine ventilation systems and networks.
• Conduct airflow surveys and measurements to monitor performance.
• Develop dust control and gas monitoring programs for safety.
• Calculate cooling needs considering heat sources and environment.
• Ensure compliance with mining ventilation and health standards.
• Provide technical training to mine personnel on best practices.
