Placements24 is seeking a meticulous Mine Surveyor to join our client’s operations near Upington, SA. You will map the mine site, establish control points, and support planning with precise volumetric measurements.

The role requires a National Diploma or Degree in Mine Surveying or Geomatics, 4+ years in mining, and proficiency with AutoCAD, Deswik, and Surpac. Surface and underground surveying experience and safety adherence are essential.

Qualifications

• National Diploma or Degree in Mine Surveying or Geomatics.
• Professional registration with a relevant South African surveying council (e.g., PLATO) is highly desirable.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in mine surveying, preferably within the mining industry.
• Proficiency in mine surveying software (e.g., AutoCAD, Deswik, Surpac).
• Experience with both surface and underground surveying techniques.

Responsibilities

• Conduct surveys for mine development, including establishing control points, setting out underground workings, and mapping.
• Perform volumetric calculations for stockpiles, excavations, and material movement.
• Utilize advanced surveying equipment such as total stations, GPS/GNSS receivers, and laser scanners.
• Process and interpret survey data using specialized software to produce maps, cross-sections, and models.
• Ensure all survey data is accurate, well-documented, and integrated into mine planning systems.
• Monitor ground movement and subsidence where applicable, reporting any significant changes.
• Adhere to strict safety regulations and procedures while working on site.
