Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a meticulous Mine Surveyor to join its operations near East London. You will measure, map, and control mine workings using modern surveying equipment to support planning, engineering and geology.

The role requires a National Diploma or Degree in Surveying or Geomatics, 5+ years of underground experience, and proficiency with Surpac, AutoCAD and Trimble Business Center. You will ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance in a dynamic mining environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a Mine Surveyor, preferably in underground operations.
• Proficiency in modern surveying instruments and techniques.
• Strong understanding of geodetic principles and coordinate systems.

Responsibilities

• Conduct surface and underground surveys to establish control points and map mine workings.
• Perform volumetric calculations for ore reserves, stockpiles, and excavations.
• Prepare and update mine plans, sections, and reports based on survey data.
• Set out development headings, stopes, and infrastructure according to design plans.
• Operate and maintain surveying equipment, including total stations, GPS, and laser scanners.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant surveying standards and mine regulations.
