Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a meticulous Mine Surveyor to support mine planning, production, and safety across underground and open-pit operations in East London, Eastern Cape. You will measure, map, and control mine workings using total stations, GPS, and laser scanners, ensuring accuracy and boundary compliance.

The role requires a National Diploma or Degree in Mine Surveying and a minimum of 3 years of experience, with proficiency in AutoCAD, Deswik CAD, Surpac, and field equipment.

Qualifications

• Requires National Diploma or Degree in Mine Surveying.
• Minimum 3 years of experience as a Mine Surveyor.
• Proficiency with surveying software such as AutoCAD, Deswik CAD, Surpac and total station/GPS equipment.
• Strong understanding of mine surveying principles and practices.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work in underground and surface mining conditions.

Responsibilities

• Conduct surface and underground surveys to establish control points and map mine workings.
• Perform volumetric calculations for ore and waste material.
• Monitor and control the position of mining excavations and infrastructure.
• Operate and maintain surveying instruments, including total stations, GPS, and laser scanners.
• Process survey data and produce accurate mine plans, sections, and reports.
• Collaborate with engineers and geologists to ensure survey data supports operational needs.
