Placements24 is seeking an experienced Mine Maintenance Manager in Richards Bay to lead the maintenance department. You will drive strategic planning, maintenance scheduling, and resource management to ensure optimal equipment performance and safety.

The role requires a mechanical or electrical engineering background, a decade in maintenance management, and strong leadership to manage large teams and budgets within the mining sector.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and results-driven Mine Maintenance Manager to lead their maintenance department in Richards Bay . You will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and longevity of all mining equipment and machinery through strategic planning, effective execution of maintenance schedules, and efficient resource management. This senior role requires strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of heavy industrial equipment, and a commitment to safety and operational excellence within the mining sector .

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive maintenance strategies, including preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs for all mining assets.
• Manage the maintenance budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness and resource optimization.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of maintenance supervisors, technicians, and artisans.
• Oversee the procurement of spare parts and manage inventory levels effectively.
• Ensure strict adherence to all health, safety, and environmental regulations within the maintenance department.
• Implement new technologies and best practices to improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime for the mining operations .

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent extensive experience.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in maintenance management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role within the mining or heavy industry sector.
• Proven track record of successfully managing large maintenance teams and budgets.
• Extensive knowledge of heavy mining equipment (e.g., excavators, haul trucks, crushers, processing plants).
• Strong understanding of CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) and maintenance planning software.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
