Placements24 client is seeking a Mine Maintenance Manager for an on-site role in Mossel Bay, Western Cape. You will lead the maintenance division, drive preventive and predictive programs, and ensure equipment availability and safety across heavy mining operations.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years in maintenance management within mining or heavy industry, a mechanical or electrical engineering background, and hands-on CMMS/ERP experience. Strong leadership and budget control are essential.

• 8+ years in maintenance management in mining or heavy industry.
• Proven experience leading diverse maintenance teams.
• In-depth knowledge of heavy mining equipment and their maintenance needs.
• Experience with CMMS and ERP systems.
• Strong safety knowledge and leadership skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage priorities.
• Professional Engineer or Pr. Tech. Eng. designation is advantageous.

• Develop and implement comprehensive maintenance strategies including preventative, predictive and corrective maintenance.
• Lead the maintenance team, including scheduling, performance management and skill development.
• Oversee maintenance and repair of all mining equipment, including heavy mobile machinery, fixed plant and electrical systems.
• Manage the maintenance budget, ensure cost-effective resource allocation and expenditure control.
• Enforce stringent safety policies and procedures within the maintenance department.
• Ensure optimal equipment availability and minimize unplanned downtime.
• Manage spare parts inventory and procurement processes.
• Analyze maintenance data to identify trends, root causes of failures and opportunities for improvement.
• Liaise with equipment manufacturers and service providers to ensure warranties and service agreements compliance.

About the Role

Our client, a well-established mining operation , is seeking a dedicated and experienced Mine Maintenance Manager to lead their maintenance division in Mossel Bay, Western Cape, ZA . This is a critical on-site role responsible for ensuring the optimal functioning and longevity of all mining equipment and machinery. The Mine Maintenance Manager will oversee a team of skilled technicians and engineers, manage maintenance budgets, implement robust preventative maintenance programs, and ensure adherence to stringent safety protocols. Success in this role requires exceptional leadership, a deep understanding of heavy machinery maintenance, and a commitment to minimizing downtime and maximizing operational efficiency. You will play a vital part in maintaining the productivity and safety of our mining activities. Requirements

• In-depth knowledge of heavy mining equipment (e.g., excavators, haul trucks, crushers, conveyors) and their maintenance requirements.
• Experience with maintenance management software (CMMS) and ERP systems.
• Strong understanding of safety regulations and best practices in an industrial environment.
• Excellent leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage competing priorities.
• Professional Engineer or Pr. Tech. Eng. designation is a strong advantage.
