Placements24 in Richards Bay is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to join our expanding mining team. You will assess ground conditions, design slope stability measures, and oversee geotechnical investigations to ensure safety and project success.

The role requires a Master\'s degree in Geotechnical Engineering, at least 5 years of mining or civil experience, and proficiency with RocScience and FLAC. You will collaborate with project teams and contribute to risk mitigation.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the mining or civil engineering sectors.
• Proficiency in geotechnical analysis and design software (e.g., RocScience suite, FLAC).
• Strong knowledge of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and engineering geology.
• Experience with field investigation techniques and laboratory testing interpretation.
• Excellent report writing and communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information clearly.

Responsibilities

• Conduct site investigations and analyze soil and rock mechanics data.
• Design and recommend measures for slope stability, ground support, and foundation systems.
• Perform numerical modeling to assess geotechnical behavior under various loading conditions.
• Develop and implement geotechnical monitoring programs.
• Provide technical advice on geotechnical issues to project teams and management.
• Investigate and report on geotechnical failures or incidents.
