Placements24 is seeking a seasoned Geotechnical Engineer to contribute to mining and infrastructure projects in the Mossel Bay region. You will assess ground conditions, design stable foundations, slopes, and underground excavations, and ensure geotechnical integrity on site.

This role emphasizes risk assessment, field testing, and reporting, with collaboration across project managers, geologists, and engineers.

Qualifications

Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or related discipline.
Minimum of 6 years of relevant geotechnical investigations and design experience.
Proficiency in geotechnical software (e.g., Plaxis, GeoStudio, or similar).
Strong knowledge of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and engineering geology.
Experience with field testing and laboratory procedures for geotechnical materials.
Excellent report writing and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Conduct site investigations, including soil and rock sampling and testing.
Perform geotechnical analyses for foundations, slopes, tunnels, and earth structures.
Develop design recommendations and specifications for geotechnical aspects of projects.
Prepare comprehensive geotechnical reports, including risk assessments and mitigation strategies.
Provide technical support during project construction, monitoring ground behavior.
Collaborate with project managers, geologists, and other engineering disciplines.
