Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Geotechnical Engineer to join operations near Vereeniging. You will assess soil and rock conditions, perform stability analyses, and support mine design and construction teams on site.

The role requires hands-on investigation, experience with GeoStudio or Rocscience, and strong reporting skills to deliver technical recommendations for large-scale mining projects while prioritizing safety and reliability.

Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering.
Experience with geotechnical software and ground investigation techniques.
Strong knowledge of soil and rock mechanics and hydrogeology.
Excellent report writing and communication skills for collaboration across teams.

Responsibilities

Conduct site investigations including drilling, sampling, and in-situ testing.
Perform stability analyses for slopes, open pits, underground excavations, and tailings facilities.
Develop geotechnical designs and recommendations for foundations and ground support.
Interpret geotechnical data using specialized software and prepare technical reports.
Provide on-site technical support during construction and operation phases.
Prepare detailed geotechnical drawings and construction specifications.
