Job summary

Placements24 seeks a skilled Metallurgist for our Mossel Bay mineral processing team in the Western Cape. You will optimize processing circuits, conduct lab test work, and troubleshoot to improve recovery and product quality.

The role requires a BSc or BEng in Metallurgy or Chemical Engineering with at least 6 years of plant-based mineral processing experience and strong data-analysis skills. Relocation assistance and career development opportunities are available.

Qualifications

Requires a BSc or BEng in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
Minimum 6 years in mineral processing operations, plant experience preferred.
Strong knowledge of comminution, flotation, leaching and related processing techniques.

Responsibilities

Develop and optimize mineral processing flowsheets and operating parameters to maximize recovery and product quality.
Conduct laboratory and pilot plant test work to evaluate new processing technologies and reagents.
Monitor plant performance through sampling, chemical analysis and data interpretation.
Troubleshoot operational issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions to minimize downtime and losses.
Prepare technical reports on process performance and recommendations for plant improvements.
Collaborate with operations and engineering teams to ensure safe and efficient plant operation.
