Placements24 in Stellenbosch, Western Cape, is seeking a skilled Metallurgist to join our client's processing team. You will optimize mineral processing operations, analyze process data, troubleshoot challenges, and drive improvements to maximize mineral recovery.

The role emphasizes collaboration with engineering and operations, bench- and pilot-scale test work, and the implementation of advanced metallurgical techniques for sustained plant performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in mineral processing operations, preferably in gold or base metal processing.
• Strong understanding of comminution, flotation, leaching, and other relevant metallurgical processes.
• Proficiency in metallurgical accounting and process simulation software.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and experimental design skills.
• Ability to interpret complex data and communicate findings effectively.

Responsibilities

• Analyze metallurgical test results and plant operational data to optimize recovery and product quality.
• Troubleshoot process issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions to minimize downtime and maximize yield.
• Conduct bench-scale and pilot-scale test work to evaluate new processing techniques or optimize existing circuits.
• Develop and implement process control strategies to ensure consistent plant performance.
• Collaborate with operations and engineering teams to implement process improvements and capital projects.
• Prepare technical reports, metallurgical accounting, and process documentation.
• Stay abreast of new technologies and best practices in mineral processing.
