Job summary

WSP USA in Africa seeks a Mechanical Design/ BIM Technician (Building Services) with 4+ years in the Building Services Consulting sector. The role blends BIM authoring, technical drafting, multidisciplinary coordination and defined mechanical design under the guidance of a responsible engineer. Candidates should hold a B.Tech.

Eng. (Mechanical) or National Diploma (Mechanical Engineering) or equivalent, and demonstrate competency in at least two mechanical disciplines such as HVAC and Public

Qualifications

• B.Tech. Eng. (Mechanical) or National Diploma (Mechanical Engineering) (NQF 6+) or equivalent.
• 4+ years of experience in Building Services Consulting.
• Strong portfolio of coordinated mechanical Revit work and building-services knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Interpret engineering criteria, calculations, schematics and technical information from the responsible engineer or technologist.
• Create accurate, coordinated BIM models, drawings and schedules.
• Navigate additions/modifications of parameters within Revit.
• Perform simple mechanical design tasks, calculations, and equipment layouts under engineering guidance.
• Apply standards when developing models and schedules.
• Design, BIM modelling and coordination of at least two mechanical disciplines (e.g., HVAC, Public Health) and manage coordination risks.
• Conduct clash-detection reviews and resolve coordination issues.
• Maintain high standards of model quality and data integrity per project requirements.
