Job summary

WSP is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer in South Africa to reinforce our Building Services team. The ideal candidate will have a BEng/BSc/BTech in Mechanical engineering, 5+ years of post-graduation experience, and 2+ years post-registration.

Expertise in HVAC design, BIM workflows and project leadership is essential. You will lead complex projects, manage tender documentation, BOQs, and contract oversight while mentoring engineers and modellers.

Qualifications

• BEng/BSc/BTech in Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering required.
• 5+ years post-graduation experience in building services, with 2+ years post-registration.
• Pr Eng or Pr Tech Eng registration required.
• Experience in HVAC design, construction monitoring for data centres, clean rooms or healthcare facilities preferred.
• Strong Revit/ACC knowledge and experience with BIM workflows.

Responsibilities

• Lead HVAC design for projects, including load calculations and ventilation analyses.
• Manage projects from inception to closeout with supervision of engineers and modellers.
• Prepare tender docs, BOQs, and participate in contract management.
• Ensure QA/QC throughout project stages and provide site supervision.
• Collaborate with clients, maintain relationships, and tailor solutions to client needs.
• Mentor junior staff and coordinate cross-disciplinary teams.
