Job summary

Afrique Connection Consultancy in Cape Town is seeking an experienced Market Manager to run daily market operations, oversee trader administration and ensure compliance with City by-laws. Qualifications

• Diploma (NQF 6) required; an appropriate NQF 5 qualification with relevant experience may be considered.
• Minimum 3 years' experience in urban or market management.
• Proven ability to engage stakeholders and facilitate multi-stakeholder processes.
• Experience in informal trading or market environments.
• Valid driver’s licence.

Responsibilities

• Open and close the market in line with operating hours.
• Inspect market daily and keep it running during trading hours.
• Monitor occupancy and prevent unauthorised occupation.
• Maintain market order and cleanliness.
• Maintain trader registers and records; onboard new traders.
• Ensure compliance with by-laws, safety and environmental health requirements.
• Report incidents, occupancy, and operational risks.
• Act as liaison between traders, city department, and stakeholders.
