Placements24 is assisting a coastal logistics and distribution firm in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal to recruit a Logistics and Fleet Driver. The role focuses on timely deliveries along the coast and inland, ensuring cargo security and adherence to safety standards while representing the company professionally.

You will operate a range of vehicles, perform pre/post inspections, maintain delivery records, and coordinate with dispatchers.

Qualifications

• Valid Code 14 (EC) license with PDP.
• Minimum 4 years professional driving experience, preferably in logistics.
• Strong, verifiable safe driving record with no major infractions.
• Proficiency operating different commercial vehicles.
• In-depth knowledge of Durban & KwaZulu-Natal road network.
• Excellent navigation using GPS devices and apps.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Physical ability to load/unload cargo as required.
• Reliability, punctuality, and strong work ethic.

Responsibilities

• Operate company vehicles from light vans to heavy trucks as required.
• Execute scheduled deliveries and pickups across Durban and surrounding areas.
• Perform pre-departure and post-arrival inspections; document issues.
• Ensure cargo is loaded, secured, and unloaded safely per instructions.
• Maintain delivery records including signatures, distances, and fuel use.
• Communicate with dispatchers, warehouses, and clients on status.
• Adhere to road safety regulations and company policies.
• Maintain cleanliness of assigned vehicles.
• Assist with inventory checks and basic warehouse support as needed.
• Identify process improvements to boost efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain the cleanliness and organization of assigned vehicles.

Requirements

• Valid Code 14 (EC) driver's license with a current Professional Driving Permit (PDP).
• A minimum of 4 years of professional driving experience, preferably in a logistics or fleet management context.
• A strong, verifiable record of safe driving, free from major infractions.
• Proficiency in operating different types of commercial vehicles.
• In-depth knowledge of the road network in Durban and the broader KwaZulu-Natal region.
• Excellent navigational skills and the ability to use GPS devices and navigation applications effectively.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Physical capability to handle loading and unloading tasks as required.
