Placements24 is seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer for Grid Modernization in Durban, SA. You will design, implement, and manage advanced grid systems, integrating smart grid technologies and ensuring reliable power delivery for growing demand.

Join a leadership team responsible for guiding engineering efforts, mentoring technicians, and coordinating with regulators, utilities, and stakeholders to deliver major modernization initiatives on time and within safety standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Pr. Eng. registration with ECSA is required.
• Minimum of 10 years progressive experience in electrical engineering with power systems focus.
• Experience leading complex grid modernization projects and smart grid deployments.
• Knowledge of power system analysis, protection schemes, SCADA, and distribution automation.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and implementation of smart grid technologies and modern electrical infrastructure.
• Oversee grid expansion, upgrades, and rehabilitation projects.
• Develop technical specifications, drawings, and project documentation.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers and technicians.
• Conduct feasibility studies, cost estimations, and risk assessments.
• Collaborate with regulators, utilities, and stakeholders for compliance and alignment.
• Troubleshoot complex grid engineering issues and stay updated on grid modernization advances.
