Placements24 seeks a Principal Electrical Engineer (Grid Integration) in Durban to lead technical direction for integrating renewable energy and storage into the grid. You will drive interconnection studies, model development, and regulatory compliance, mentoring a team and engaging stakeholders.

The role requires deep power systems expertise, PhD or Master’s in Electrical Engineering, and Pr.Eng registration.

Qualifications

• PhD or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering with Power Systems specialization.
• Minimum 12 years of extensive experience in power system engineering, grid integration of renewables.
• Professional Engineer (Pr.Eng) registration is essential.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical development and evaluation of grid interconnection studies for large-scale power projects.
• Develop and validate advanced grid integration models and simulations for renewable energy sources and storage systems.
• Provide expert advice on power system stability, transient analysis, and fault studies related to grid integration.
• Define technical requirements and specifications for grid connection assets, including switchyards and protection systems.
• Oversee the design review process for grid interconnection projects, ensuring compliance with grid codes and standards.
• Develop and implement strategies for enhancing grid resilience and managing grid stability challenges.
• Collaborate with utility partners, regulatory bodies, and internal project teams to facilitate project execution.
• Mentor and guide senior and junior engineers in grid integration topics.
