About the Role

Our client, a pivotal player in South Africa's evolving energy infrastructure, is looking for a distinguished Lead Electrical Engineer specializing in Grid Modernization. This critical role is based in the vibrant city of Durban, KwaZulu-Natal , and requires an individual with extensive experience in designing, implementing, and managing advanced electrical grid systems. You will be at the forefront of integrating smart grid technologies, enhancing grid stability, and ensuring reliable power distribution for a growing populace. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and implementation of smart grid technologies and modern electrical infrastructure.
• Oversee the engineering aspects of grid expansion, upgrade, and rehabilitation projects.
• Develop technical specifications, engineering drawings, and project documentation.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of electrical engineers and technicians.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering; a Master's degree is advantageous.
• Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) registration with ECSA is required.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in electrical engineering, with a strong specialization in power systems and grid infrastructure.
• Demonstrated experience in leading complex engineering projects, preferably in grid modernization or smart grid deployment.
• In-depth knowledge of power system analysis, protection schemes, SCADA systems, and distribution automation.
• Proficiency in relevant engineering software (e.g., ETAP, PSS/E, AutoCAD Electrical).
• Strong leadership, team management, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
• Proven ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
• Familiarity with South African electrical codes and standards is essential.
