Placements24 is seeking a Lead Grid Integration Specialist for a major Durban energy sector client. The role focuses on integrating diverse energy sources into the national grid from a remote setting.

The ideal candidate has a master's in electrical engineering and 8-10 years experience in power systems, grid codes, and renewable integration. You will lead modeling, ensure regulatory compliance, mentor engineers, and drive grid modernization initiatives.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Power Systems.
• 8–10 years in power systems analysis, grid planning, and RES integration.
• In-depth knowledge of power system dynamics and stability analysis.
• Proficiency with PSS/E, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, or similar tools.
• Strong grasp of South African grid codes and regulations.
• Experience leading cross-functional projects and remote teams.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the integration of renewable energy sources into the national grid.
• Develop and validate power system models for stability and load flow.
• Ensure compliance with grid codes and interconnection standards.
• Collaborate with IPPs, utilities and regulators on connection agreements.
• Provide guidance on grid constraints, upgrades and mitigation.
• Manage and mentor a team of grid engineers.
• Contribute to grid modernization and smart grid initiatives.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations.
• Monitor emerging technologies and industry best practices.
