Job summary

Placements24 in George, Western Cape seeks a Lead Electrical Engineer to drive grid modernization projects and upgrade electrical infrastructure for future energy demands. You will lead technical direction and planning to deliver reliable systems that support renewables integration.

You will design substations, transmission and distribution networks, oversee smart grid tech, perform system studies, and mentor engineers, while coordinating with regulators, utility partners and communities.

Qualifications

Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
10+ years in electrical engineering with power systems focus.
Proven leadership of complex grid projects.
Pr.Eng. registration with ECSA is essential.

Responsibilities

Provide technical leadership for grid modernization projects.
Design and implement substations, transmission and distribution networks.
Oversee smart grid technologies and renewable interfaces.
Perform load flow, fault calculations and protection coordination.
Develop project specs, tender documents and construction drawings.
Mentor engineers and technicians and foster teamwork.
Ensure safety, quality and regulatory compliance.
Liaise with regulators, utility partners and communities.
Support strategic planning and long-term development of electrical infrastructure.
