Placements24 is seeking a skilled Chemical Process Design Engineer to join our client in Upington. You will lead the conceptual and detailed design of chemical processes, create PFDs, P&IDs, and equipment specifications, and perform heat and material balances.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in Chemical Engineering, 4+ years in process design, and proficiency with Aspen Plus or CHEMCAD and CAD tools. Strong problem solving and safety awareness are essential.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering.
Minimum 4 years of process design experience in the chemical industry.
Proficient in Aspen Plus or CHEMCAD; CAD tools knowledge.
Solid understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and reaction engineering.
Familiar with process safety management (PSM) principles.
Strong technical writing and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Lead the conceptual and detailed design of chemical processes and equipment.
Develop Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
Specify process equipment including reactors, pumps, heat exchangers, and distillation columns.
Conduct feasibility studies and economic evaluations for new designs.
Ensure designs comply with safety, environmental, and industry standards.
Collaborate with procurement, construction, and operations teams.
