Job summary

Placements24 in Rustenburg invites a Senior Process Design Engineer to lead the conceptualization and detailed design of complex chemical processes and plants. You will drive design quality, safety, and client satisfaction while mentoring junior engineers and coordinating with EPC teams on multi-disciplinary projects.

The role requires an MSc/MEng in Chemical Engineering, 7+ years in process design, and expertise with Aspen HYSYS or Pro/II.

Qualifications

MSc or MEng in Chemical Engineering with a strong academic record.
Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in chemical process design and engineering.
Expertise in process simulation software (e.g., Aspen HYSYS, Pro/II) and design tools.
Thorough understanding of project engineering and stage-gate processes.
Experience in managing design packages and interfacing with EPC contractors.
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

Lead the development of process designs, including PFDs, P&IDs, equipment specifications, and control philosophies.
Perform process simulations and feasibility studies for new chemical projects and plant upgrades.
Conduct detailed engineering calculations for unit operations and process systems.
Ensure designs comply with all relevant engineering codes, standards, and safety regulations.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and design team members.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams during project execution.
