Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an entry-level IT Support Technician Apprentice to join our client’s team in Tembisa, Gauteng. You’ll gain hands-on experience maintaining IT infrastructure, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, and providing end-user support under experienced mentors.

This apprenticeship offers comprehensive training, exposure to network administration and cybersecurity basics, and potential for certification.

Qualifications

Strong interest in IT and technology.
Basic knowledge of computer hardware and operating systems (Windows/macOS).
Good understanding of TCP/IP, DNS and DHCP.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Matriculation certificate or equivalent qualification.
Car licence and local travel willingness are a plus.
CompTIA A+ certification advantageous.

Responsibilities

Provide first-level technical support to end-users via phone, email, and in person.
Install, configure, and maintain computer hardware, software, systems, networks, printers, and scanners.
Diagnose and resolve hardware and software problems in a timely manner.
Assist in managing user accounts, permissions, and access rights.
Document technical issues and resolutions for knowledge base creation.
Perform routine system checks and preventative maintenance.
Escalate unresolved issues to senior IT staff.
Support the IT team with ad-hoc projects and tasks as needed.
