Job summary

Placements24 seeks a skilled Instrumentation Technician for an industrial facility in Paarl. The role covers maintenance, calibration and repair of instrumentation and control systems essential to safe energy production processes.

You will diagnose complex issues, interpret P&IDs and schematics, and ensure accuracy and reliability of measuring instruments while adhering to safety and environmental standards. On-the-job training and career development are available within a growing energy company.

Qualifications

• National Diploma or relevant trade qualification in Instrumentation, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of Instrumentation Technician experience in industrial/power generation environments.
• Strong knowledge of instrumentation technologies including pressure, temperature, flow and level measurement.
• Experience calibrating and maintaining safety instrumented systems (SIS).

Responsibilities

• Install, calibrate, troubleshoot, and repair instrumentation and control systems.
• Maintain process control equipment and sensors, transmitters, valves, and actuators.
• Read P&IDs, electrical schematics, and manuals to diagnose issues.
• Ensure safety, environmental, and company policy compliance.
• Assist in new instrumentation projects and system upgrades.
• Record maintenance, calibration results, and equipment performance.

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Read and interpret P&IDs , electrical schematics, and technical manuals to diagnose and resolve issues.
• Ensure all work complies with safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies.
• Assist in the implementation of new instrumentation projects and system upgrades.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, calibration results, and equipment performance.

Requirements

• National Diploma or relevant trade qualification in Instrumentation, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Instrumentation Technician in an industrial or power generation environment.
• Strong knowledge of various instrumentation technologies, including pressure, temperature, flow, and level measurement.
• Proficiency in calibrating and maintaining complex control loops and safety instrumented systems (SIS).
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a plant environment in Paarl.
