Placements24 in Upington is seeking enthusiastic individuals to start an Instrumentation Apprenticeship, offering hands-on training in installation, calibration, maintenance and repair of process control instrumentation used in industrial settings.

Under the guidance of experienced instrument technicians, you will learn to manage sensors, transmitters, control valves and P&IDs while completing theoretical studies.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or equivalent with strong math and science marks.
• Interest in electronics, control systems and industrial processes.
• Good problem-solving and analytical thinking.
• Willingness to complete theoretical studies.

Responsibilities

• Assist in installation and commissioning of instrumentation systems.

About the Role

You will work closely with experienced instrument technicians, learning to manage sensors, transmitters, control valves, and other critical equipment. Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the installation and commissioning of new instrumentation systems.
• Learn to calibrate and test various types of measurement and control instruments.
• Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on instrumentation loops.
• Read and interpret P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams) and technical manuals.
• Ensure safe working practices and compliance with industry standards for instrumentation.

Requirements

• Grade 12 or equivalent, with strong passes in Mathematics, Physical Science, and ideally, Technical subjects.
• A keen interest in electronics, control systems, and industrial processes.
