Job summary

Placements24 seeks an experienced Industrial Engineer to enhance efficiency across mining operations in Rustenburg, North West. You will analyze workflows from extraction to processing and logistics, applying Lean and Six Sigma to boost productivity and reduce costs while ensuring safety.

Collaborate with mine planning, production, and engineering teams to implement data-driven solutions, develop SOPs, and track performance with clear metrics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or Mining Engineering with an industrial focus.
• Minimum of 5 years in industrial engineering, preferably in mining or heavy industry.
• Proven experience in process analysis, optimization and performance improvement.
• Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Proficiency in data analysis, statistical modeling and process simulation tools.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and project management skills.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.

Responsibilities

• Analyze mining operational processes to identify inefficiencies and improvement opportunities.
• Develop and implement strategies to optimize resource utilization (equipment, labor, materials).
• Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses for changes or new technologies.
• Apply Lean and Six Sigma to streamline operations and reduce waste.
• Design and monitor performance metrics and reporting for management.
• Collaborate with mine planning and production teams to align initiatives.
• Develop and maintain SOPs for processes and procedures.
• Investigate issues and implement corrective actions.
• Contribute to safety improvement initiatives with engineering controls.
• Prepare reports and presentations on performance and improvement projects.
