Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering with a Water Resources specialization.
• Professional registration with ECSA (Pr Eng or Pr Tech Eng) is highly desirable.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in water resources engineering.
• Experience in design of water supply and/or wastewater systems.
• Proficiency in water resources modeling software.
• Experience with environmental impact assessments and regulatory processes.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and report-writing skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.
• Familiarity with the North West Province water sector challenges is a significant advantage.

Responsibilities

• Conduct hydrological and hydraulic studies for water resource development and management projects.
• Design and plan water supply systems, including treatment plants, pipelines, and storage reservoirs.
• Develop and implement stormwater management plans and flood mitigation strategies.
• Assess the condition and safety of existing dams and water infrastructure.
• Prepare feasibility studies, design reports, and environmental impact assessments related to water resources.
• Liaise with clients, government authorities, and other stakeholders on water-related projects.
• Oversee the construction and commissioning of water infrastructure projects.
• Utilize specialized water resources engineering software (e.g., EPANET, HEC-RAS, WMS).
• Contribute to the development of water conservation and management strategies.
• Mentor junior engineers and technicians involved in water resource projects.
