Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Senior Water Resource Engineer to lead planning, design, and management of water projects in the Free State region. The role focuses on water supply schemes, stormwater, flood control, and wastewater systems with a hybrid work model.

The ideal candidate has a Master's in Civil/Environmental Engineering, Pr Eng registration, and 8+ years in water resource engineering, including team leadership and client engagement. Travel within the Free State may be required.

Qualifications

Master's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering with a focus on Water Resources.
Pr Eng registration with ECSA is essential.
8+ years of relevant experience in water resource engineering, with project management and design.
Proficiency in hydrological modeling (e.g., HEC-RAS, SWMM), hydraulic design, and water resource planning tools.

Responsibilities

Lead planning, design, and implementation of water resource management projects (dams, canals, pipelines, water treatment facilities).
Conduct hydrological and hydraulic analyses to assess availability, demand, flood risk, and system performance.
Develop detailed designs, specifications, and construction documents for water infrastructure projects.
Perform feasibility studies, impact assessments, and cost-benefit analyses for proposed water schemes.
Manage project execution including scope, budget, schedule, and resources.
