Placements24 is seeking a seasoned Process Safety Engineer for a hybrid role in Benoni. The candidate will design and manage comprehensive PSM programs, lead PHAs (HAZOP/LOPA/What-If), and develop safe operating procedures and emergency plans.

The role requires 7+ years in process safety within the chemical sector, strong analytical skills, and effective communication. Experience with MOC, PSSR, and incident investigations is essential for promoting a robust safety culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in process safety engineering within the chemical industry.
• Proven experience in conducting and leading PHAs (HAZOP, LOPA, What-If).
• Strong knowledge of PSM elements, including mechanical integrity, MOC, PSSR, and emergency planning.
• Familiarity with relevant safety regulations and standards.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication, interpersonal, and training skills.

Responsabilités

• Develop, implement, and maintain Process Safety Management (PSM) systems and programs.
• Conduct Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) such as HAZOP, LOPA, and FMEA studies.
• Develop and update safety procedures, operating manuals, and emergency response plans.
• Investigate process safety incidents, determine root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards (e.g., OSHA).
• Conduct safety audits and inspections of chemical plant facilities and operations.
• Provide training to employees on process safety principles and procedures.
• Manage Management of Change (MOC) processes to ensure safety in modifications.
• Promote a strong safety culture and engage employees in safety initiatives.
• Stay current with best practices and advancements in process safety engineering.
