Placements24 seeks a diligent Process Safety Engineer for its Stellenbosch chemical manufacturing operations. The role focuses on identifying, assessing, and mitigating process hazards, developing safety protocols, and ensuring compliance with OSHA PSM and Seveso directives, in a hybrid work setup that combines on-site engagement with remote work.

The candidate will lead PSM programs and training to safeguard people and the environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related safety discipline.
• Minimum 6 years of process safety experience in chemical/petrochemical environments.
• Deep knowledge of process safety methodologies (HAZOP, LOPA, SIL) and risk assessment techniques.

Responsabilités

• Develop, implement, and manage Process Safety Management (PSM) programs including PHA, LOPA, and HAZOP studies.
• Conduct safety reviews for new/modified processes, equipment and facilities.
• Investigate incidents, near misses and deviations; determine root causes and drive corrective actions.
• Develop and maintain safety procedures, operating guidelines, and emergency response plans.
• Ensure compliance with national and international process safety regulations and best practices.
• Provide safety training and technical expertise to engineering and operations teams.
• Monitor safety performance metrics and prepare regular management reports.
• Participate in Management of Change (MOC) reviews to assess safety implications.
