Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical/Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in process safety engineering within chemical/petrochemical environments.
• Experience conducting various PHA methodologies (HAZOP, LOPA, FMEA).
• In-depth knowledge of PSM elements (OSHA PSM, EPA RMP).
• Strong understanding of mechanical integrity, MOC, and emergency planning.
• Analytical, problem-solving and risk assessment skills.
• Effective communication and stakeholder influence.
• Experience with safety management software/tools.
• CSP certifications are advantageous and eligible to work in South Africa.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive Process Safety Management (PSM) programs.
• Conduct Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP, LOPA, and FMEA studies.
• Investigate incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
• Develop and review safety-critical procedures, operating manuals, and emergency response plans.
• Ensure compliance with relevant safety regulations, industry standards, and company policies.
• Provide technical expertise and guidance on process safety matters to engineering and operations teams.
• Perform safety audits and assessments of plant equipment and processes.
• Promote a strong safety culture throughout the organization.
• Train personnel on process safety principles and procedures.
• Stay updated on best practices and advancements in process safety engineering.
