Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a skilled Process Design Engineer to join the Bloemfontein team, contributing to design and enhancement of chemical manufacturing processes. The role translates conceptual designs into detailed plans, ensuring efficiency, safety, and regulatory compliance.

You will develop PFDs and P&IDs, perform mass and energy balances, specify equipment, and lead process safety reviews. Collaboration with mechanical, electrical, and civil engineers, project managers, and suppliers is

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering required.
Minimum 5 years of process design experience in chemical or related industries.
Experience with Aspen Plus or HYSYS and CAD tools.
Knowledge of process safety and PHA techniques.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

Develop PFDs and P&IDs.
Perform mass and energy balances, heat transfer, and fluid dynamics calculations.
Specify process equipment such as pumps, reactors, heat exchangers, and separators.
Conduct process safety reviews and hazard assessments (HAZOP).
Prepare technical specifications and datasheets for process equipment and instrumentation.
Coordinate with other engineering disciplines during the design phase.
