Placements24 seeks a Process Mechanical Engineer for its chemical industry operations in Bloemfontein. You will design, implement, and optimize mechanical systems and equipment used in chemical manufacturing to ensure safety, efficiency, and reliability of production facilities.

The role requires strong knowledge of process equipment and PSM/HAZOP familiarity, along with proficiency in engineering software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering is required.
• Experience as a Process Engineer or Mechanical Engineer in chemical/petrochemical environments preferred.
• Strong knowledge of process equipment (pumps, reactors, heat exchangers, distillation columns).
• Familiarity with PSM principles and HAZOP studies.
• Proficiency in engineering software and simulation tools.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and modify mechanical systems and equipment for chemical processing plants.
• Analyze and optimize process flow, energy usage, and equipment performance.
• Ensure safety regulations, environmental standards, and best practices are met.
• Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues related to process equipment, piping, instrumentation.
• Collaborate with operations, safety, and maintenance teams to implement improvements.
• Manage small to medium-sized mechanical projects from conception to completion.
