Placements24 is seeking a dedicated Chemical Process Engineer to join their team in George, South Africa. The role supports optimizing existing manufacturing processes and developing new ones, with a hybrid work model offering remote flexibility and essential on-site collaboration.

You will drive efficiency, safety, and sustainability, collaborating with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to implement scalable process improvements and documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering (required).
• 3-5 years of chemical process engineering experience.
• Proficiency with process simulation software and data analysis.
• Knowledge of chemical plant operations, safety procedures and environmental regulations.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills; hybrid work adaptability.
• Proactive problem-solving and process-improvement mindset.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and optimize existing chemical production processes to improve yield, reduce waste, and enhance safety.
• Participate in the design and scale-up of new chemical processes, from conceptualization to full implementation.
• Troubleshoot process deviations and implement corrective actions to maintain operational stability.
• Develop and maintain process documentation, including operating manuals and P&IDs.
• Collaborate with plant operations and maintenance teams to ensure smooth process operation and efficient troubleshooting.
• Stay abreast of new technologies and industry best practices to propose innovative solutions.
