Placements24 is seeking a dedicated Purchasing Officer for a prestigious hotel group in Pietermaritzburg. You will source a wide range of hospitality supplies, negotiate terms with suppliers, and manage end-to-end procurement to support guest services and maintenance teams.

The role requires strong organizational and negotiation skills, familiarity with hospitality needs, and the ability to work with multiple departments to ensure timely deliveries and cost efficiency.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in purchasing or procurement, preferably in hospitality.
• Familiarity with hospitality supplies and suppliers.
• Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
• Proficiency in MS Office and inventory management software.
• Knowledge of the local supplier market in Pietermaritzburg.

Responsibilities

• Source and procure hospitality supplies including linens, toiletries, food & beverage items, cleaning supplies and equipment.
• Build and maintain relationships with key suppliers and negotiate favorable terms.
• Manage the procurement process from needs assessment to order placement and delivery tracking.
• Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with departments to prevent stockouts and waste.
• Ensure items meet quality standards and maintain accurate purchasing records.
• Process invoices and assist in developing purchasing policies and procedures.
