About the Role

Our client is seeking a diligent and customer-focused Hotel Duty Manager to oversee daily operations at their property located in Vereeniging, Gauteng, ZA. This role is crucial for ensuring the smooth functioning of the hotel, particularly during shifts, and for providing a consistently high level of guest service. You will be responsible for managing front-of-house operations, resolving guest issues, and leading the on-duty team to uphold the hotel's standards. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of hotel operations, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to guest satisfaction. This position requires a hands-on approach and the ability to respond effectively to various situations.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate all hotel operations during assigned shifts.
• Ensure guests receive prompt, professional, and courteous service.
• Handle guest inquiries, complaints, and requests efficiently and effectively.
• Manage the front desk operations, including check-ins, check-outs, and reservations.
• Oversee the performance of front office, housekeeping, and F&B staff during shifts.
• Ensure adherence to hotel policies, procedures, and service standards.
• Assist in managing hotel inventory and supplies as needed.
• Conduct regular inspections of the hotel premises to ensure cleanliness, safety, and security.
• Prepare daily reports on shift activities, guest feedback, and operational issues.
• Support other departments as needed to ensure overall guest satisfaction.

Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in hotel operations, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or junior management role.
• Proven experience in front desk operations and guest relations.
• Strong understanding of hotel management systems (PMS).
• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure.
• Customer-centric approach with a passion for service excellence.
• Diploma or certificate in Hospitality Management or a related field is advantageous.
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays, in Vereeniging, Gauteng, ZA.
