Placements24 is seeking a Helpdesk Technician to join the IT support team in Randburg. The role combines onsite Randburg duties with remote work in a hybrid model, supporting hardware, software, and networks with a proactive approach.

The successful candidate will handle end-user support, manage tickets, and assist with deployments and documentation, while ensuring security policies are followed and service levels are met.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Helpdesk Technician or similar IT support role.
• Strong knowledge of Windows, macOS and common software.
• Familiarity with TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP and network troubleshooting.
• CompTIA A+ and/or Network+ certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide first- and second-level support to end-users via phone, email, and remote tools.
• Install, configure, and maintain hardware, software, systems, networks, printers and scanners.
• Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues, including network connectivity problems.
• Troubleshoot IT equipment to minimize downtime and support tickets.
• Manage and monitor support tickets and create user guides and SOPs.
• Assist with user accounts, access rights, and IT deployments.

About the Role

Our client, a prominent financial services firm, is seeking a skilled Helpdesk Technician to join their IT support team in Randburg. This role is critical in ensuring the smooth operation of our IT infrastructure by providing timely and effective technical support to employees. You will be responsible for diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and network issues, as well as assisting users with their technology-related needs. Key Responsibilities

• Provide first- and second-level technical support to end-users via phone, email, and remote desktop tools.
• Install, configure, and maintain computer hardware, software, systems, networks, printers, and scanners.
• Diagnose and resolve technical hardware and software issues, including network connectivity problems.
• Troubleshoot and repair IT equipment, ensuring minimal downtime for users.
• Manage and monitor IT support tickets using a helpdesk ticketing system.
• Create and maintain IT documentation, including user guides and standard operating procedures.
• Assist with user account management, including creation, modification, and deletion of accounts.
• Participate in IT projects, such as system upgrades and deployments.
• Ensure all IT support activities are performed in accordance with company policies and security protocols.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Helpdesk Technician or in a similar IT support role.
• Strong knowledge of computer hardware, operating systems (Windows, macOS), and common software applications.
• Experience with network troubleshooting (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
• Familiarity with Active Directory and Microsoft Office 365 is essential.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Relevant IT certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+) are a plus.
• Comfortable working in a Hybrid capacity, splitting time between the Randburg office and remote work.
