Job summary

City of Tshwane in Pretoria seeks a Functional Head: Grievance to oversee corporate grievance functions. The role requires guiding the grievance process, facilitating Step 2 and Step 3 meetings, and ensuring decisions are implemented with proper notifications and follow-up.

You will liaise with employees, unions, and management to prevent conflicts and maintain functional grievance procedures across divisions. A law background and substantial labour relations experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Three-year qualification in Law with Labour Law specialization.
• At least six years’ experience in a labour relations environment.
• Supervisory experience is an advantage.
• Valid Code B driving licence.
• Computer literacy with SAP and advanced Excel.
• Criminal record check with fingerprints at own cost.

Responsibilities

• Advise on and monitor the grievance procedure.
• Attend Step 2 meetings and advise on solutions.
• Act as facilitator between aggrieved and department to resolve grievances.
• Ensure Step 2 decisions are implemented via notifications and monitoring.
• Communicate with employees, unions and relevant stakeholders.
• Liaise with unions in day-to-day activities.
• Attend shop steward meetings and advise on policies.
• Contribute to development and maintenance of labour policies.
• Schedule Step 3 grievance meetings and act as secretary/advisor.
• Ensure Step 3 outcomes are implemented and monitored.
