About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced and knowledgeable Freight Forwarder Specialist to join their logistics team in Upington, Northern Cape. This critical on-site role involves managing the complexities of international and domestic freight movement, ensuring shipments are handled efficiently, cost-effectively, and in compliance with all regulations. The specialist will be responsible for coordinating with carriers, customs brokers, and clients to facilitate the smooth transit of goods via air, sea, and land. We are looking for an individual with a deep understanding of global shipping procedures, trade compliance, and logistics documentation. Key Responsibilities

• Arrange and manage the transportation of goods via air, sea, and land modes.
• Prepare and process all necessary shipping documentation, including bills of lading, customs declarations, and invoices.
• Coordinate with carriers, customs authorities, and other relevant parties to ensure smooth transit.
• Track shipments and provide timely updates to clients and internal stakeholders.
• Negotiate freight rates and service agreements with carriers.
• Ensure compliance with all international trade regulations, customs laws, and import/export requirements.
• Identify and resolve any issues or delays that may arise during the shipping process.
• Maintain accurate records of all freight forwarding activities and associated costs.
• Provide excellent customer service to clients, addressing inquiries and resolving concerns.
• Stay informed about industry trends, regulations, and best practices in freight forwarding.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; a degree or certification in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is advantageous.
• Proven experience as a Freight Forwarder or in a similar role within the logistics industry.
• In-depth knowledge of international shipping procedures, trade compliance, and customs regulations.
• Proficiency in using freight forwarding software and MS Office Suite.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Problem-solving aptitude and decision-making skills.
• Familiarity with various modes of transport and their respective documentation requirements.
• Must be able to work on-site in Upington, Northern Cape.
