Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Field Service Technician to install, maintain, and repair telecom equipment at customer sites around Durban. This on-site role emphasizes proactive problem solving and customer interaction.

You will work with copper and fiber cabling, configure routers/switches, diagnose issues, and perform preventative maintenance. A technical qualification and driver's license are required, with training provided.

Qualifications

• Must have a technical qualification in Electronics, Telecommunications or related field.
• Minimum 2 years as Field Technician in telecoms.
• Proficient with diagnostic tools and test equipment.
• Familiar with copper and fiber optic cabling installation and testing.
• Valid driver’s license with clean record.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain telecom equipment (routers, switches, access points).
• Diagnose and repair hardware/software issues; perform timely repairs or replacements.
• Conduct routine preventative maintenance for optimal network performance.
• Respond to service calls and customer requests; ensure prompt issue resolution.

In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of telecommunications equipment at customer sites and remote locations. Your expertise will ensure the reliable operation of critical communication infrastructure, directly impacting customer satisfaction. This is an essential on-site position requiring a proactive approach to problem-solving and excellent customer interaction skills.

Key Responsibilities
