Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Exploration Geochemist to join a dynamic team in Paarl, South Africa. You will design and manage geochemical sampling programs, analyze results, and integrate with geological data to target drill sites.

The role requires a Master’s in Geochemistry or related Earth Science, at least 5 years of mineral exploration experience, proficiency with ioGAS, GCDKit, and GIS, and strong communication skills for reporting to management.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented Exploration Geochemist to join their exploration team based in Paarl . This role is central to identifying new mineral deposits through the analysis and interpretation of geochemical data. You will be responsible for designing and implementing soil, rock, and stream sediment sampling programs, analyzing the results, and integrating this information with geological and geophysical data to guide exploration efforts. Key Responsibilities

• Design and manage geochemical sampling programs across exploration targets.
• Oversee the collection, preparation, and analysis of geological samples (soil, rock, stream sediment, drill core).
• Interpret geochemical data using statistical methods and multivariate analysis to identify exploration vectors.
• Integrate geochemical data with geological mapping, drilling results, and geophysical surveys to generate drill targets.
• Collaborate closely with exploration geologists and geophysicists to refine exploration strategies.
• Prepare clear and concise geochemical reports and present findings to the exploration team and management.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Geochemistry, Geology, or a related Earth Science discipline.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in mineral exploration geochemistry.
• Proficiency in geochemical data analysis software (e.g., ioGAS, GCDKit) and GIS platforms.
• Strong understanding of low-temperature geochemistry and mineral deposit models.
• Experience in various sample media and analytical techniques is essential.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with field experience in the Paarl region being a plus.
