Placements24 in Durban is seeking a dedicated Exploration Geologist to join our expanding mining team. This role focuses on identifying mineral prospects and contributing to the growth of our resource portfolio through all stages of exploration, from reconnaissance to detailed drilling programs.

You will work with geophysicists and geochemists, applying geological principles to diverse terrains in the region, and you'll help plan targets, supervise drilling, and maintain robust geological

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geology or related Earth Science.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant mineral exploration experience.
• Proficiency in geological mapping, core logging, and assay interpretation.
• Experience with Leapfrog or ArcGIS.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field mapping, sampling, and data collection to identify potential mineral targets.
• Plan and supervise diamond and RC drilling programs, including core logging and assay data interpretation.
• Analyze and interpret geological, geophysical, and geochemical data using software.
• Collaborate with senior geologists to develop exploration strategies and targets.
• Maintain geological databases and contribute to technical reporting.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental protocols during field operations.

About the Role

Our client is actively searching for a dedicated Exploration Geologist to join their expanding team in Durban . This role is fundamental to the company’s ongoing success, focusing on identifying new mineral prospects and contributing to the growth of their resource portfolio. You will be involved in all phases of exploration, from initial reconnaissance to detailed drilling programs, working closely with geophysicists and geochemists. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of geological principles and a passion for discovery within the diverse geological terrains of the region.

Key Responsibilities
