About the Role

Our client, a vibrant non-profit organization dedicated to fostering cultural enrichment and community development within Stellenbosch, Western Cape, ZA , is seeking a dynamic and creative Event Planning & Community Engagement Officer. This role is integral to strengthening our ties with the local community, organizing impactful events, and enhancing our public profile. The ideal candidate will be a highly organized, personable, and proactive individual with a passion for community building and a knack for event execution. This position offers the opportunity to make a tangible difference in the local arts and culture scene, working within the essential Charity & Voluntary sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and execute a variety of community events, workshops, festivals, and fundraising activities from conception to completion.
• Develop and implement engaging community outreach programs to increase participation and awareness of our client's services and initiatives.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with community stakeholders, local businesses, government bodies, and partner organizations.
• Manage event budgets, negotiate with vendors, and ensure all logistical aspects are handled efficiently.
• Create marketing and promotional materials for events and outreach activities, coordinating with the communications team.
• Recruit, train, and manage volunteers for events and ongoing community programs.
• Gather feedback from event attendees and participants to assess satisfaction and identify areas for improvement.
• Monitor and report on the success of events and outreach initiatives, including attendance, impact, and budget adherence.
• Represent our client at community meetings, networking events, and public forums.

Requirements

• A relevant tertiary qualification in Event Management, Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.
• Proven experience (minimum 3 years) in event planning, project management, and community engagement, preferably within the non-profit sector.
• Excellent organizational, planning, and time management skills with meticulous attention to detail.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive relationships with diverse community groups and stakeholders.
• Experience in budget management and vendor negotiation.
• Proficiency in event management software and standard office applications.
• Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, as required by event schedules.
• A passion for community development and the arts/culture sector in Stellenbosch .
